David M. Terhark

HIGHLAND, Ill. — David M. Terhark, 76, of Highland, Ill., died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021, at his home in Highland, Ill. He requested to be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland is in charge of arrangements.

He was born March 3, 1944, in Pipestone, Minn., the son of Christopher R. and Meta T. (Brink) Terhark. On March 3, 1968, he married Emma “Jean” Harris in Graettinger, Iowa. David was a graduate of Elmore, Minn. High School. He joined the U.S. Navy serving in Vietnam. After leaving the service he joined a band with his brother playing in many venues across the Midwest. He had worked in Minneapolis and Mankato, Minn. In 1983, he and his family moved to Highland, Ill. Survivors include: his wife, Emma “Jean” Terhark of Highland, Ill.; daughters, Kari A. Terhark of Durham, N.C., Kimberly J. (Michael) Ackerman of Edwardsville, Ill., Karla S. (Andrew) Harrington of Edwardsville, Ill.; three grandchildren; sister, JoAnn Mileham of Elmore, Minn.; brothers, Michael Terhark of Elmore, Gary (DeeDee) Terhark of Sioux City, Iowa; sister-in-law, Vicki Terhark of Fairmont, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Steven R. Terhark.
