Katie “Kat” Lynn Helmers was born Jan. 5, 1986, in Fairmont, Minn., during a cold winter day warming the hearts of her parents, Steve and Judy (Wille) Jablinske. She was welcomed home by an older sister, Jenny and delighted in the addition of a younger sister, Carly a few years later. Kat attended school in Fairmont and graduated with the class of 2004. She would go on to further her education attending Iowa Lakes Community College where she earned her degree in graphic design. On May 19, 2012, as butterflies fluttered between them, Kat was united in marriage to Jeremy Helmers at a beautiful outdoor ceremony on a farm near Dunnell, Minn. Together, the couple made their home in Sherburn and lovingly created a family with Jeremy’s three children, Chanelle, Zander, and Ivy Rose, and while also being blessed with two children of their own, Dravyn and Bram. Kat loved her children and considered them her biggest blessing. They were her world and she cherished time spent with them. Kat was a creative soul and she looked forward to working on crafts with her kids with many projects ending up on the kitchen fridge. Kat was compassionate and had a special place in her heart for those who were less fortunate and took pride in helping those in need. Kat loved music and found healing in the words of the songs she listened to. Her love of music helped as she wrote poetry, expressing herself with carefully strung together lines that reflected her feelings, some of which were published. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Jeremy Helmers of Sherburn, Minn.; children, Dravyn Helmers, Bram Helmers, Chanelle Helmers, Zander Helmers, and Ivy Rose Helmers; parents, Judy (Tory) Gustafson of Fairmont, and Steve (Deb Thune) Jablinske of Fairmont; sisters, Jenny Guldan and Carly Jablinske; grandpa, Loren “Jabby” Jablinske; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends. Katie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jim and Bev Wille and Bonnie Jablinske; Uncle Mike; Angie and Jamie. www.lakeviewfuneralhome.net
