Steven C. Bents

JACKSON — Steven Craig Bents, 60, of Jackson, passed away Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020, at his residence in Jackson. A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Osterberg Funeral Home in Jackson. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home. Service will be live streamed on the Osterberg Funeral Home Facebook page.

Steven Craig Bents, son of John A. and Bette (Dagel) Bents, was born Friday, Feb. 19, 1960, in Adrian, Minn. Steven attended grade school in Rushmore, Minn. and graduated from Worthington High School in 1978. Steven attended Southwestern Technical College in Jackson, Minn., and graduated with high honors in carpentry, leading him to renovating many houses. In his younger years, Steven farmed with his dad and later on his own until 1994. Steven then worked at Monford (Swift) in Worthington for multiple years before going to work at Ag-Chem (Ag-Co) for over 20 years. Steven was united in marriage to Janell Halverson on Aug. 13, 1988, on the family farm. They continued living in rural Rushmore, along with Janell’s daughter and son, whom Steven later adopted. In December 1989, a son Andrew, was born from this marriage. This marriage was later dissolved. Steven and his family moved to Lakefield, Minn. in 1993 and later to Fairmont in 1998. Steven and his youngest son resided in Sherburn for a short time, before retiring to his acreage in rural Jackson. Steven enjoyed making things out of wood, gardening, working along side his daughter and sons in many projects. Steven truly enjoyed spending time with his family. Steven is survived by his three children: Jennifer (Tedarian) Lingl, Benjamin (Brittany) Bents, and Andrew (Miranda) Bents; his sister Janice (John) Pfeifer; brother, Johnny Bents; granddaughter, Riley Jo; grandsons, Jadyne Benjamin, E’sen Jawan, and a baby boy due February 2021; friends, Mike Ehlers, Tony Holmberg; along with nieces, nephews and extended family.
