June Eileen (Gieseke) Anders was born Jan. 26, 1924, in Rutland Township, Martin County, Minn., the daughter of Herman and Anna (Johnson) Gieseke. She attended District 80 country school in Rutland Township and later graduated from Fairmont High School.

On Feb. 27, 1943, June was united in marriage to Gerald Anders at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont. This union was blessed with three daughters, Joyce, Janice, and Joan. The couple rented a farm near Fairmont for three years before purchasing the Fred Anders farm where they lived for 60 years. June and Gerald retired from farming in 1988 and moved to Fairmont in 2006. They shared over 77 years together. June was a long-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont. When she wasn’t busy helping Gerald on the farm, June enjoyed traveling, gardening, and canning. She also did some applique and embroidery on tea towels and pillowcases for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. June most loved the time she was able to spend with her family and enjoyed having them home for a meal. Left to cherish her memory include her husband, Gerald Anders of Fairmont, Minn.; daughters, Joyce Peterson (Martin Hedstrom) of Rochester, Minn., and Janice (Peter) Serfilippi of Holiday, Fla.; grandchildren, Lori (John) Lawler of Bayou Vista, Texas, Troy (Sarah) Tyson of Zumbro Falls, Minn., Darren (Rebecca) Peterson of Rochester, Minn., Graysee (Jeff) Hempel of Prior Lake, Minn., Jason Henton of Lakota, Iowa, Amy Deilke of Hinkley, Minn., Lisa (Brian) Klingbeil of St. Paul, Minn.; 18 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Stewart; brother, Merle Gieseke; very special family friend, Delmer Whitaker; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Along with her parents, Herman and Anna Gieseke, June was preceded in death by her daughter, Joan Freshwater; son-in-law, Douglas Peterson; sisters, Evelyn Lenort, and Viola Sepmeyer; brother, Norman Gieseke; and nephew, Keith Gieseke. The family requests memorials be made in June’s name to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont and St. Paul Lutheran School in Fairmont.
