Elaine H. Bents

FAIRMONT — Private family services for Elaine H. Bents, 89, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery.

Elaine passed away Monday morning, Nov. 16, 2020, at her home in Fairmont, surrounded by her family. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Elaine H. (Meyer) Bents was born Dec. 10, 1930, near Welcome, Martin County, Minn., the daughter of Arthur and Emma (Heuer) Meyer. She received her education attending District 50 country school in rural Martin County. In the late 1940’s Elaine moved to Fairmont, Minn., where she met and later married Lyle Bents. Together the couple made their home in Fairmont and were blessed with three children, Lee, Janice, and Scott. Elaine took great pride in the feeling that came from working hard. She worked at Serles Café and the American Legion and retired from 3M on Feb. 1, 1996, after 36 years. Elaine kept a tight circle of friends and cherished spending time with her family. She was extremely proud of her home and loved her four-legged friends, Max and Cooper. In her youth, Elaine enjoyed attending concerts and traveling. In her retirement, she enjoyed attending hockey and baseball games of her grandchildren. Elaine was well known for her sense of style and kept up with the newest trends. Her fiery spirit and zest for life will be greatly missed by those that loved her. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Janice Claude, and Scott Bents and his wife, Pam; grandchildren, Sam Claude, Matt Bau, Molly Claude, Ian Bents and wife, Anna, Kelsey White and husband, Lance, Brody Bents, and Jonathan Bents; great-grandchildren, Gabriele Teet, Jazmin Claude, Erik Claude, Tyson Claude, Tate White, Gracie White, Easton Bents, Ava Terfehr and Owen Terfehr; two sisters, Marilyn Fullerton and Darlene O’Brien; as well as many other extended family and friends.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Emma Meyer; son, Lee Bents; and two brothers, Marlin Meyer and Dennis Meyer.
