Allene Clow

TRUMAN — Allene Clow, age 87, of Truman, died Monday, Oct. 5, 2020, with her family at the window at Heartland Senior Living in Truman, after being stricken with COVID-19, although she probably died of a broken heart, due to the isolation of the pandemic. She was unable to hug and visit with those she loved.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak, private graveside services will be held noon Thursday, Oct. 8, 2020, with Rev. Timothy A. Chase officiating. The service will be livestreamed via the funeral home’s website. Zaharia Family Funeral home is entrusted with arrangements. www.zahariafamilyfuneral.com

Allene Mae Jones was born Dec. 28, 1932, in Judson Township, Blue Earth County, Minn., to Alvin Alfred Jones and Loris Glee (Butler) Jones. She was the second of 12 children. She attended school in Truman.

On Sept. 17, 1950, she married Anton “Tony” Clow at The Community Baptist Church in Truman. To this union, four children were born.

Allene was a stay-at-home mother and kept herself busy with the kids and their school, church and Scout activities. She later worked at Truman Drug for over 30 years.

She was also a member of the Lutheran Retirement Home Auxiliary. Allene was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran church in Truman, attending Ladies Aid functions and as a representative on the LWML for many years. She was on the board of directors for the Truman Historical Society and enjoyed getting together at the community events held in town.

Allene’s potato salad and chocolate cake will never be forgotten. Her giving personality and her care and concern for others will be emulated by many. She always had coffee on for coffee time, sweets and snacks were never in short supply and you never went away hungry. She loved watching the Minnesota Twins win and, even if they didn’t, she had a good time. She truly cared for others, and it showed. She will be missed by many.
