Kathryn Langerman

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Remembering with a grateful heart the life of former Swea City area resident, Kathryn Langerman, who passed away Sunday, Sept. 6, 2020, in Greensboro, N.C., where she had been living the last several years.

Kathryn Jean Henriksen was born June 7, 1925, on the Henriksen family farm, northeast of Ringsted, Iowa, the youngest of five children and the only daughter of Marius and Andrea (Andersen) Henriksen.

She graduated from Ringsted High School in 1944, then attended beauty school in Estherville, Iowa. Kathryn became a successful beauty operator there until her marriage to Marcus

Langerman of Swea City in 1946. The couple lived on a farm east of Swea City and raised three children, John, Wayne, and Jean. In their retirement, they bought a house in Fairmont, Minn. and lived there until the death of Marcus, a few years later.

Kathryn moved to Greensboro, N.C. to be closer to her family. Kathryn possessed many talents and it seemed she could accomplish anything she set out to do, a church organist at St. John Lutheran Church in Ringsted, in her teen years, an excellent seamstress, a beautician, the best cook and maker of great carmel and cinnamon rolls and pies, a farm wife who worked side-by-side with her husband, animal chores, hauling grain at harvest, she did it all so very well. Kathryn and Marcus were active members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Swea City, where she was a faithful member of the women’s organizations there. Kathryn is survived by her sons, John of Greensboro, Wayne (Kay) of Dahlonega, Ga.; daughter, Jean (Roger) of Washington state; three grandchildren, Becky, Eric, and Stephen; and four great-grandchildren, Judson, John, Margaret, Louisa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus; daughter-in-law, Dale Langerman; parents, Marius and Andrea Henriksen; brothers and wives, Clifford (Helen), Harvey (Lorene), LeRoy (Laura), Gerald (Lois); father and mother-in-law, Fred and Amanda Langerman; brother and sister-in-law, Cecil (Vivian) Langerman.

Kathryn has also had a host of friends wherever she has lived, and we as her family, are so proud to have called her our very own, and we will never forget all that you have nurtured in and done for us. May you shine on in Heaven now with our Lord and all who have gone on before. Cards will reach the family at John Langerman, 2602 Southwick Drive, Greensboro, NC 27455.
