She was born May 18, 1933, in Fairmont, Minn., to Stephen and Helen (Renken) Barnett.

In 1956, she married Wesley Zierke of Elmore.

Lucy was a hairdresser by trade and continued that work while Wes farmed. In 1968, they moved to a small farm near Chisago City. Later the family welcomed foster children into their home for many years.

In 1975, Lucy embarked on her career in nursing homes, retiring as an activity director in 2009.

Wes and Lucy moved to Frederic, Wis., in 1992. Wes passed away in 2004, and she later moved back to Center City.

In 2016, she moved to Margaret’s House, where she enjoyed many friendships with both residents and staff. Lucy was a fun-loving social lady who enjoyed friends and travel throughout her life. She loved to tease and be teased, daisies, doughnuts, and her Packers and Wild teams.

Lucy was a devout Catholic her entire life and was an inspiration to all who knew her.

Preceding her in death are her husband of 48 years, Wes; parents, Steve and Helen Barnett; brothers, Raymond, Donald and Lloyd; two brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.

Left behind to miss her are her children, Pat (Jon) Eveslage, Chris (Shirley) Zierke, Kathy Zierke; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Betty Lou Zierke. She was so proud of her five grandchildren, Ben (Jess) Zierke, Sarah (Anthony Solyntjes), Paul Eveslage, Rebecca (Grant Wolters), and Elena Eveslage (partner Xander Grzywinski). She also loved her six great-grandchildren, Owen and Jack Zierke, Blake and Claire Solyntjes, William and Mark Wolters. Special family friends are Greg and Terri Shaleen and the Over the Hill gang, Vi Bloom, Claudia Boleen, and Judy Toth.
