Daniel Gregory Lang was born Nov. 1, 1952, in Devils Lake, N.D., to Sylvester and Mildred “Millie” (Spidahl) Lang. He and his family moved to Minnesota in 1955. He went to school in Madelia, Lewisville and Truman, graduating with the Truman High School class of 1971, and continued his education at Mankato Vocational Technical College for culinary arts.

He married Kay Nundahl in 1974 and this union welcomed two children.

Danny joined the U.S. Army and went to basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C. He was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas; Fort Chaffee, Ark.; Fort Greely, Alaska; and Fort Knox, Ky. He was honorably discharged in June of 1979.

He and Kay later divorced.

On Sept. 24, 1983, Danny married Marianne Fedder. Danny and Marianne welcomed two more children to their family where they resided in Truman.

Danny worked at Nasby Agri Systems in Fairmont for many years, Scott Peterson’s hog farm and Bosshart/GCC Concrete as a cement truck driver, where he later retired from.

His biggest accomplishments were his marriage to “Toots,” his children and his grandchildren.

He enjoyed singing and playing guitar in his band “Sundance.” He also enjoyed helping local farmers during harvest, fishing, mowing the lawn, throwing horseshoes and coaching wrestling for elementary-age students. He was affectionately known as the Starburst Man, as his generous spirit loved giving the little candies out to many for just the price of a smile on their face.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Marianne; mother, Millie Lang; children, Travis Lang (fiancée Nicole Johnston), Tracy (Barry) Hoffman, Jesse Lang, and Brittany Lang (fiancé Ryan Rivers); grandchildren, Jessica Becker, Dakota Hoffman, Kenyon Hoffman, Koewen Hoffman, Jack Lang; brothers, Al (Pat) Lang, Jim (Ruth) Lang, Steve (Tracie) Lang, Jerry (Amy) Lang, and Mike (Melody) Lang; sisters, Cheryl Culbertson, Claudia Schaaf, and Michelle Lang (fiancé Eron Andrews); many nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends.

Danny was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Sylvester Lang; brother-in-law and dear friend, Howie Culbertson; nephews, Geoffrey Schaaf and Dustin Fedder; infant nieces, Tiffany and Natasha Schaaf; and infant great-nephew, Ethan Cole.
