LAKE HAMILTON, Fla. — Jon Philip Wood, 56, of Lake Hamilton, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at his home from diabetic complications. A funeral service will be held July 7, 2020, at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales.

He was born July 13, 1963, in Fairmont, Minn., to Philip and Mary Wood. Jon was baptized on Dec. 16, 1973, at First Baptist Church in Winnebago, Minn. Jon graduated from Granada-Huntley High School in 1981, where he participated in football, wrestling, band and 4-H.

He moved from Minnesota to Lake Hamilton in 1985.

He was a godly man and put everyone before himself.

Jon is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sheila Wood; daughter, Megan Wood of Winter Haven; sons, Jared (Kirstin) Wood of Winter Haven, Damon (Michelle) Hunt of Winter Haven; parents, Philip and Mary Wood of Fairmont; sisters, Holly Kotewa of Fairmont, Ann (Bob) Schultz of Ham Lake, Minn.; brother, Paul (Amy) Wood of Winnebago; five grandchildren; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jon was preceded in death by his grandparents.
