He was born Dec. 18, 1934, in Ledyard, Iowa, to Willie and Erma (Cassem) Lloyd.

After attending school in Ledyard, Ron enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in February of 1953. Ron proudly served in the 55th Tactical Fighter Squadron, the 7th Air Force Flight Ops team in the 1960s and early 1970s, and served in the Vietnam War. He received accolades as an engine aircraft maintenance technician and, after 20 years of service, retired from the Air Force on April 1, 1973, at the rank of Technical Sergeant.

Following his military career, Ron began his civilian work in electronics in Fairmont, Minn., working at Ron’s TV, then as co-owner and later sole owner of Electronic Village. He later worked for Electrocraft in Winnebago, Minn., and then Amery, Wis., before finishing his working career at GS Electric in Hudson.

While stationed in England, Ron met and married Margaret Ann Hiscutt. The two were united in marriage on April 2, 1960. This union was blessed with three children.

Upon retirement from the Air Force, Ron moved his family to Fairmont, Minn. He and Margaret would later move to Hudson.

Ron’s passion for golf began in the Armed Forces and continued throughout his life. Introduced to the game during his time in Europe, Ron used his military discipline and attention to detail to teach himself the game, playing on the base. When the family moved to Fairmont, Ron began working at Interlaken Golf Club in many roles, teaching lessons, repairing clubs and carts, even working on the crew that planted many of the trees at the course. He loved, and took pride in, everything he did at Interlaken. When he was not on duty, he would be out with his friends playing the course.

While Interlaken remained in his heart throughout his life, Ron did begin working at Oak Marsh Golf Club in Oakdale, Minn., in the 2000s, as a first tee starter for many years. In the fall of 2016, in a golf round with his grandson, Ron made a par on the 18th hole at Oak Marsh. This would be the last round of golf he played.

Ron’s additional hobbies changed through the years, beginning with boxing as a young man, fast-pitch softball, watching greyhound racing, including racing at the Hudson Dog Track, bowling league and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; children, Sandra (Preston) Andersen of Fairmont, David Lloyd of Hudson, and Debra (Jay) Rabbe of Trimont, Minn.; three grandchildren, Christoffer (Susan) Andersen, Nicholas Andersen, Tristan Rabbe; great-granddaughter, Harper; siblings, Jerrald (Kathy) Lloyd of Fairmont, Bill Lloyd (special friend Carolyn) of Lakeville, Minn.; brothers-in-law, Gerald Neal of Arkansas, Howard (Jill) Hiscutt, Trevor Hiscutt, both of England; sisters-in-law, Mary (Roy) Britten and Linda Barnes, both of England; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Erma Lloyd; stepfather, Leonard Madetzke; siblings, Janice Neal, Lucky Lloyd; stepsister, Julie Madetzke; parents-in-law, Stanley and Margery Hiscutt; sister-in-law, Jean Andrews; brother-in-law, Harry Barnes; and his beloved dog Snoopy.

Memorials and cards are preferred to the discretion of Ronald’s family and can be mailed to: O’Connell Family Funeral Home, c/o Ronald Lloyd Family, 520 S. 11th St., Hudson, WI 54016, to be forwarded on your behalf.
