FAIRMONT — A Celebration of Life service for Duane E. Senne, age 76, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held at a later date.

Duane passed away Friday morning, May 15, 2020, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Duane Earl Senne was born May 10, 1944, in Longview, Wash., son of Earl and Irene (Wagner) Senne. Duane attended public schools in Granada, Minn. On Sept. 23, 1965, Duane enlisted in the U.S. Army. He achieved the rank of SP4(T) and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal before earning his honorable discharge on July 24, 1967.

On July 9, 1971, Duane was united in marriage to Leanne Zalesky at the courthouse in Sioux Falls, S.D. The couple resided in Fairmont, where they shared their lives. This union was blessed with six children: Shelly, Robin, Rhonda, Todd, Nicole and Lynette.

Duane was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fairmont.

Duane worked for Dan Harris Painting before starting his own business S & S Painting, which he operated until his retirement.

In his younger years, Duane loved to go dancing with Leanne. When he wasn’t able to go dancing as often, he could be seen watching “BandWagon” on TV. Duane enjoyed cooking, listening to polka music, woodworking as well as playing dice, cards and other games. Duane most loved the time he was able to spend with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Leanne Senne of Fairmont, Minn.; children, Shelly (Ed) Clayton of Tampico, Ill., Rhonda Haney of Olivia, Minn., Todd Shumski of Fairmont, Nicole (Brian) Allen of Fairmont, Lynette (Jay) Katzenmeyer of Minnetonka, Minn.; son-in-law, Mike Sanders of Dubuque, Iowa; grandchildren, Erica, Philip, Nicholas, Nathan, Courtney, Brady, Madysen, Taylor, and Tori; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Erlene (Kent) Milbrandt, and Deb (Kim) Rock; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Along with his parents, Earl and Irene Senne, Duane was preceded in death by his daughter, Robin Sanders; granddaughter, Natalie Sanders; brother, Ivan Senne and his wife, Nora; and parents-in-law, Serle and Marge Zalesky.
