Frederick Munyer Jr.

BEDFORD, Texas — Frederick “Fred” Munyer Jr. of Bedford, Texas, formerly of Ledyard, Iowa, died Sunday, March 22, 2020, at his home. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Fred was born June 5, 1948, in Buffalo Center, Iowa, to Frederick and Eleanor (Sanders) Munyer. He graduated from Ledyard Community School in 1966, and then went on to attend and graduate from Estherville Junior College. Fred entered the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam from 1969-1970. Fred returned to Minnesota and worked as a fishing guide on Leach Lake. He later returned to Ledyard, where he worked with his father at the fertilizer plant. Fred moved to Dallas, Texas in 1985. He first worked in the home construction business before going to work for American Airlines where he remained until his retirement in 2015. Fred married the love of his life, Pamela Knoll, on March 25, 1989. They were blessed with daughter, Alexandra Jeanne, in 1992. Fred enjoyed spending time with his family and his dogs, going to NASCAR races, going on cruises, fishing, a can of Budweiser and his daily morning cup of coffee with friends at the American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Pam; daughters, Allie (Eric Varner), Heather (Peter DeFrank); grandchildren, Jimi, Samantha and Katrina; siblings, Monica (Max) Porter, Lynn Goettsch, Brian (Diane) Munyer, Mark Munyer, Michelle (Greg) Zierke, Dawn (Tim) Ashton, Tracy (Dennis) Thompson; mother-in-law, Nancy Knoll; brothers-in-law, Stuart (Avery) Knoll, Jeff (Vanessa) Knoll; many nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Sr. and Eleanor Munyer; father-in-law, Harold Knoll; and brothers-in-law, Robert Hiller and William Goettsch. Fred will be greatly missed and remembered by many.
