FAIRMONT — Services for Eloise Lidke, 86, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held at a later date.

Eloise passed away Wednesday evening, March 18, 2020, at her home in Fairmont.

Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Eloise (Schuler) Lidke was born Nov. 15, 1933, on a farm near Grant, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Evelyn (Taylor) Schuler. She began her education attending school in Greenfield, Iowa before moving with her family to a dairy farm near Granada, Minn. Eloise finished her education attending school in Granada and graduating from Granada High School with the class of 1952.

Eloise had a passion for helping people and put that passion to work attending the Methodist-Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester, Minn., where she earned her nursing degree in 1955. In 1956, Eloise moved to Fairmont, where she worked at the Fairmont Community Hospital.

On May 15, 1957, Eloise was united in marriage to Harlan L. Lidke in Midland, Texas. Together, the couple made their home in Fairmont prior to moving to Indianapolis in 1965, and returning to Fairmont in 1967, where Eloise continued her career as a nurse, nursing instructor and director of nursing at the Fairmont Community Hospital, working until her retirement in 1993.

Eloise was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Fairmont where she shared her gift of singing, both in the choir and at many church events. She also sang in the Al Zinter Chorale along with Harlan.

Eloise was a board member of the Martin County Historical Society. She and Harlan both loved collecting, restoring and selling antiques for many years.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Steve (Geri Sue) Lidke and Leslie (Chip) Annen; grandchildren, Tyler (Jenna) Lidke, Johanna (Scott) Savastano, Kenneth (Sarah) Lidke, Matthew (Shannon) Annen, Michael (Jennifer) Annen and Melissa Annen; great-grandchildren, Adrianna, Harper, Mya, Jace, Kaylyn, Lauren, Grant, Brady, Wyatt, Nicholas, Tyler and two little girls on the way; brother, Wendell (Leona) Schuler; sisters-in-law, Clare Lidke and Carolyn Schuler; brother-in-law, Warren Koehler; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Evelyn Schuler; husband, Harlan Lidke; sister, Gayle Koehler; brother, Doyle Schuler and brother-in-law, Allan Lidke.
