Randall L. Green

SAN DIEGO — Randall “Randy” L. Green, age 63, of San Diego, Calif., passed away Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, in San Diego.

Randall Lynn Green was born Sept. 24, 1956, in Winnebago, Minn., to Melvin and Darliss (Werner) Green. Growing up, he attended school at Granada-Huntley, participated in and loved all sports. He also helped deliver milk for family-owned Greens Rural Foods and pumped gas at Standard Gas Station. Randy was a member of the 1975 graduating class from Granada-Huntley. Following graduation, he continued his education in Winona, Minn., where he studied autobody.

In 1980, he moved to San Diego, where he opened his own body shop, Ocean Beach Auto Body, which he ran for 39 years until his illness forced him to close it.

Randy loved adventure and raced in the Baja 500 and Baja 1000 in Mexico from 2000-2010. He enjoyed going to the Daytona 500 and cheering for Jimmy Johnson and visiting football stadiums throughout the United States. Although he lived in California, he was still an avid Minnesota Vikings fan, and was able to cheer them on with other Viking fans in California. He was especially proud of his collector car, a 1931 Ford Coupe. Randy didn’t let his illness defy him or slow him down. He came back to Minnesota every year to snowmobile and fish with his Granada friends at Nodak Lodge in Bena, Minn. He even came back to Granada to his niece’s wedding in June of 2019.

Family and friends were especially important to Randy, he was always ready to take a trip and make memories. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him and called him friend.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Darliss Green of Granada, Minn.; brother, Ron (Nina) Green of Daytona Beach, Fla.; sister, Kathy (Robert) Leet of Granada; nieces, Danielle (Brian) Koehler, and Ashley (Jade) Jahnke; nephews, Brett Green, Brandon (Fawn) Green, and Ryan (Aimee) Harmon and their son, Henry; stepniece, Summer (Erik) Mueller and their children Gavin and Preston; other extended family and friends.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Green; grandparents, Clyde and Edna Green, and Fred and Eleanor Werner; aunts, Donna Prescher and Dorothy Tompkins; and uncles, Lennie Prescher, Darrel Swingdorf and Lester Johnson.
