ARMSTRONG — Ormal E. Guinn, age 93, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019, at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, Iowa. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2019, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong, Iowa, with Pastor Lauri Boysen as officiant.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Armstrong. He will be laid to rest in Armstrong Grove Cemetery, Armstrong, Iowa. Military rites by Weiby-Johnson VFW Post of Armstrong.

Ormal E. Guinn was born Sept. 18, 1926, in Armstrong, Iowa, son of Arthur and Goldie (Phillips) Guinn. Ormal served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

On Sept. 22, 1946, he was united in marriage to Lucille Kesler in Estherville. The couple farmed for many years.

For hobbies, Ormal enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, fixing things and taking care of the golf course. The couple enjoyed wintering in Arizona and then Texas.

He was a member of the Nazareth Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 0014 in Swea City, VFW Post 5232 in Armstrong, and was active at the Adobe Wells Golf Course in Texas.

Left to cherish Ormal’s memory are his wife, Lucille of Armstrong; children, Patricia (Arnie) De Joode of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Eugene (Lisa) Guinn of Armstrong, Debra (Jerry) Williamson of Holyoke, Colo.; grandchildren, Troy De Joode, Adam (Liz) De Joode, Nicole (Jesson) Salyards, Kristin (Daniel) Koch; great-grandchildren, Chase De Joode, Jackson De Joode, Jules De Joode, Haley Koch, Eli Koch, Lydia Salyards, Joel Salyards; sister, Burnetta Cummins of Armstrong; sisters-in-law, Irene (Barton) Evans of Spirit Lake, Linda (Roger) Simons of Webb, Iowa, and Delores Kesler of Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; great-grandchildren, Carson and Claire De Joode; brothers, Laverne and Clifton; brothers-in-law, Dale Cummins, Junior Kesler; sisters-in-law, Betty Guinn and Harlene Guinn.
