FAIRMONT — Memorial Mass for Gayle A. Mau, age 60, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2019, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Fairmont.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, 2019, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the service Saturday, Dec. 28, at the church.

Gayle passed away Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2019, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato, Minn.

Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Gayle Ann (Austin) Mau was born Sept. 17, 1959, in Fairmont, Minn., to Marland and Florence (Stinar) Austin. She graduated from Fairmont High School in 1978 and continued her education in Mankato, Minn. for architectural and civil drafting.

On Oct. 1, 1983, Gayle was united in marriage to David Mau at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont.

After their marriage, Gayle and David lived in many different places, including Trimont, Minn., Kansas, Nebraska, South Carolina, North Carolina, Illinois, Michigan and then Coon Rapids, Minn., where they lived for many years until recently moving to Fairmont. Gayle worked at civil engineering firms for most of the time and since 1995 she owned and operated Merit Building Company, Inc., a general contractor for residential and commercial businesses.

Gayle was an active member at Epiphany Catholic Church in Coon Rapids. She was involved in the Miss America Pageant system with her daughter, Leah, for many years. Gayle was also active in judging high school DECA.

She enjoyed attending her children’s sporting events and loved arts and crafts, sewing, going to movies and traveling. Some of her favorite trips with her family were to Playa del Carmen, Mexico, Puerta Vallarta, Mexico, and Jamaica.

She is survived by her husband, David Mau; four children, Daniel (Katie) Mau, Amy, Jesse and Leah Mau; brothers and sisters, Sherry (Mike) Sullivan, Gene (Laurie) Austin, Mary Jo (David) Abel, Barb (Greg) Smith, Marcy (Greg) Cochran, Mark Austin, and Mike (Barb) Austin; sisters-in-law, Joanne Boelter and Maggie Mau; many nieces and nephews, and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Lisa Mau; brother, Wayne Austin; and brothers-in-law, Richard, Roger and Kenneth Mau.
