Keith Alan Gieseke was born Oct. 2, 1959, in Fairmont, Minn., the son of Merle and Marion (Peymann) Gieseke. He grew up on the family farm in Rutland Township. As Keith grew from a boy into a young man, so did his passion for farming. Keith was baptized and later confirmed into the Lutheran faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairmont. He attended school in Fairmont and graduated from Fairmont High School with the class of 1978.

Following his graduation, Keith began farming and took great pride in a hard day’s work on the farm. Keith was a wonderful friend and there wasn’t a place in Fairmont or around the area where he would go and not know someone. He had a passion for adventure and loved the feel of the open road as he cruised the countryside on his motorcycle. Keith held on to special memories made on his 27-day bike trip in 2012 with Penny.

On Feb. 8, 2017, Keith and Penny were united in marriage at South Padre, Texas. Together, the couple would make their home in Fairmont, and Keith warmly welcomed Penny’s children and grandchildren into his life.

Keith loved country music and looked forward to summer music festivals, especially getting the chance to listen to George Strait. He was incredibly kind and generous, and loved pulling up a chair at his favorite watering hole to catch up with his many friends.

Faith was important to Keith and he was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fairmont.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Penny Gieseke of Fairmont, Minn.; father, Merle Gieseke of Fairmont; brothers, Michael Gieseke and his wife, Maureen of Fairmont, and Chad Gieseke of Atlanta, Ga.; step-children, Jennifer (Layne) McCleary, Delanie (Mike) Reller, and Nicolette (David) Abel; step-grandchildren, Logan McCleary, Madeline McCleary, Duke Reller, Hallie Abel and Davison Abel; nieces and nephews, Morgan (Mike) Lennon, Kate (Terry) Smith, Garrett Gieseke, Nikki (Dan) Ferguson and Jeff Potts; as well as many great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family and friends.

Keith was preceded in death by his mother, Marion Gieseke; maternal and paternal grandparents; and other extended family.
