WINNEBAGO — James Harlan Murphey, age 86, of Winnebago passed away Friday, Nov. 8, 2019, at United Hospital District in Blue Earth. Memorial services will be held at a later date.

James was born Oct. 19, 1933, in Winnebago, Minn., to John and Genevieve (Ash) Murphey. He attended Winnebago School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

James married Margaret Ahl on Dec. 30, 1971.

Throughout his life, he worked many jobs, including carpentry, construction and numerous manufacturing jobs.

James enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret; children, Jay (Angie) Murphey and Jill (Eric) Haken, both of Winnebago; seven grandchildren; brother, Gerald Murphey of Salt Lake City, Utah; and sister, Ruth Walls of Jonesboro, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Todd Murphey; and sisters, Audrey Murphey and Avis Ignaszewski.
