Geneva Annabelle “Nib” (Stueve) Barnett was born on March 19, 1934, in Loveland, Iowa. She was the daughter of Arthur and Golda (Hoyt) Stueve. She attended school in Dolliver, Iowa.

In 1950, Geneva was united in marriage to Robert Barnett. This union was blessed with four children: Alisha, Robert, Douglas and Debra. The family resided in Fairmont for 24 years. The couple later divorced.

Geneva worked at 3M in Fairmont for 14 years. In 1976, she became an insurance agent for more than 20 years until her retirement in 1996. Geneva later moved to Jackson, Minn., in 1998.

During her free time, she enjoyed playing cards and Keno, traveling, dancing, playing a homemade family board game called “Wahoo,” as well as playing basketball in her younger years.

Geneva also enjoyed her family and her special friend, Leland, who traveled with her to many places and who was always so kind and helpful to her. She most loved the time she was able to spend taking care of her grandchildren. Her love of family shows in something she wrote that states: “What a wonderful life. What a joy I have had, having my four children and grandchildren and my brothers and sisters, and wonderful friends – (for the good times.) My family and friends have been my life. Wonderful memories and fun times as a new addition joined us. Bless them all.”

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Alisha Paur of New Bern, N.C., Robert Barnett and wife, Ginger, of Oriental, N.C., Douglas Barnett of California, and Debra Petersen and husband, Craig, of Dunnell, Minn.; grandchildren, Mickie Bosshart and Jim, Robert Barnett and Tiffany, Lorinda Barnett, David Barnett, Sara Pawlik and Michael, Anna Randall, Rosalyn Rode and James, Jessica Summers, and Andrew Petersen; 24 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; special partner, Leland Koehlmoos of Spirit Lake, Iowa; sister, Gloria Cargil of Coon Rapids, Minn.; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Along with her parents, Arthur and Golda Stueve, Geneva was preceded in death by her brothers, Gerald, Gail, Grover, Gordon, Gene and Glen Stueve; sisters, Greta, Gretchen and Genelle; and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
