Peggy Jo Goeke was born Oct. 1, 1955, in Blue Earth, Minn., to Ivan and Arline (Trasamar) Roelfsema. She received her education from Elmore Public School and graduated in 1974.

On April 3, 1976, Peggy was united in marriage to Mark Goeke at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elmore, Minn.

After their marriage, Mark and Peggy moved to Marquette, Mich., where they lived while Mark was stationed at the K. I. Sawyer Air Force Base. In 1978, Mark and Peggy moved to Fairmont, Minn., where Peggy started her own daycare, which she did for almost 40 years. She took great pride in watching each of her daycare kids and grandchildren grow and loved attending their events. The memories and stories at Peggy’s daycare are endless.

Mark passed away on Feb. 6, 1988, as a result of a snowmobile accident.

Peggy was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Fairmont, Martin County Daycare Association, where she held multiple offices through the years, and the Fairmont American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed being involved in the community and helped out with Relay for Life.

She loved baking and cooking and always had a pan of brownies or something in the crock-pot ready. Peggy always remembered everyone’s birthday.

She is survived by her two children, Rachael (Nate) Blom, and Ryan (Kelly) Goeke; five grandchildren, Teagan and Joseph Blom, Emma, Henry and Hadley Goeke; brothers, Dennis (Linda) Roelfsema, and Dick Roelfsema; sister, Barb (Bill) Pannkuk; mother-in-law, Elaine Goeke; sister-in-law, Linda Giese; brother-in-law, Dave Goeke; nieces, nephews, extended family and many special daycare kids and families.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mark Goeke; father-in-law, Ted Goeke; and sister-in-law, Cindy Kockler.

She may have left this earth, but we know she will be cheering on each of us from above, along with her Fairmont Cardinals and Minnesota Vikings.
