Joyce M. Stusse

FAIRMONT – Funeral Service for Joyce M. Stusse, age 95, of Fairmont, MN, will be 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at the Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel in Fairmont with interment in Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Joyce passed away on Saturday morning, November 2, at the Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, IA. The Lakeview Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Joyce Maurine (Ritter) Stusse was born on October 15, 1924, in Center Creek Township, Martin County, MN. She was the daughter of John and Christea (Hickok) Ritter. Joyce attended Huntley Consolidated School and following her graduation in May, 1942, she attended Mankato State Teachers and Commercial Colleges for a year. Joyce then began her career as a secretary and bookkeeper working for three years at Conner Motors of Fairmont.

On October 6, 1946, Joyce was united in marriage to Lester W. Stusse at her parent’s farm home in Center Creek Township. The couple traveled in the East with the Railway Ballast Conditioning Corp. of Minneapolis, for several years, settling in Salamanca, New York where she managed the Field Office for RBCC. The family returned to Fairmont in 1959, where Joyce continued her career in the secretarial and accounting fields. In April of 1970, she joined the staff of the Martin County National Bank. At the time of her retirement in June, 1995, she held the position of Assistant Vice President. Joyce and Lester shared over forty-six years together before Lester passed away on June 27, 1993.

Joyce was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont, was a life member of the Fairmont Hospital Auxiliary as well as being a Tax Aide. During her free time, Joyce enjoyed watching the birds outside her window as well as her roses and garden. She most loved having lunch once every week for over twenty-four years at Perkins with LuAnn

Left to cherish her memory include her son, David Stusse; special niece, LuAnn Ritter and her forever friend, Vicky Sagehorn; sister-in-law, Helen Ritter; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Along with her parents, John and Christea Ritter, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Stusse; infant daughter, Maurine Dee; brothers, Alden Ritter, and Deane Ritter and his wife, Kathryn; sister, Faye Garlick and her husband, Russ.

The family would like to say a special “Thank You” to Rose and Barb and all the staff at Goldfinch Memory Care as well as the staff of Valley Vue Care Center. Memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice.
