ST. PETER — Duane Floyd Manzey, age 80, of St. Peter, passed away Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019, at Pheasant’s Ridge Assisted Living Facility in St. Peter. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in St. Peter. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9-10:15 a.m. Saturday at the church. Interment will be held at the cemetery in Sherburn following the service.

The family prefers memorials be given to St. Peter Lutheran school or a mission organization of their choice.

St. Peter Funeral Home ~ Klein Chapel is assisting the family.

Duane Floyd Manzey was born Aug. 20, 1939, on the family farm in Sherburn, Minn., to Floyd and Lovetta (Bloomquist) Manzey. He graduated from Sherburn High School in 1957 and then served in the U.S. Army. He returned home to farm with his father.

On June 14, 1959, he married Janice Hoelz in Dunnell, Minn., and together they raised four children; Alan, Cheryl, Marci and Lisa. Duane continued farming for several years before entering the seed business as a district sales manager for Pioneer Seed, Weather Master, Pfister Hybrids, Sansgaard Seed and finally retiring from Gold Country Seeds in 2008.

Duane served on church councils in Sherburn, Marshalltown, Iowa, and St. Peter Lutheran in St. Peter where he was a current member.

He was an avid gardener who enjoyed raising hostas and hybridizing day lilies which many of his family members now enjoy in their own gardens. He most enjoyed spending time with his family and playing weekly card games with friends.

Duane is survived by his wife Janice; children, Alan (Monica) Manzey, Cheryl (Doug Soderberg) Schow, Marci (Bruce) Norell, and Lisa (Steve) Adelmann; grandchildren, Tessa (Justin) Wengert, Nina and Dustin Manzey, Tyler (Laura) Schow, Jonnica (Josh) Mayer, Cortney Norell, and Madison (Tanner) Jaeger; great-grandchildren, Colby, Devyn and Scarlett Wengert; sisters, Diane (Tom) Nelson, Pernilla (Gene) Jorgensen; brother, Gary (Mary Jo) Manzey; sisters-in-law, Grace Ann Wendland and Ruth Decker; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Ethel Manzey; and granddaughter, Sarah Schow.
