TRIMONT — A Celebration of Life service for Charles “Bud” R. Potts, 90, of Trimont, Minn., will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2019, at First Lutheran Church in Trimont, Minn., with Pastor Stephanie Christoffels and Pastor Greg Hall officiating. Burial will be in First Lutheran Cemetery, rural Trimont, Minn., with full military honors by Foster Bernhardt American Legion Post 373 of Trimont, Minn.

Charlie was called to his eternal rest Thursday evening, Aug. 29, 2019, at his home in Trimont, Minn. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2019, at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Trimont, and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the church.

Charles Robert Potts was born Aug. 26, 1929, in Dunnell, Minn., to Royal and Nellie (Crawford) Potts. He attended several country schools in Martin County until the eight grade. On Dec. 28, 1950, he entered the U.S. Navy and served in various places.

On Aug. 28, 1953, he was united in marriage to Joyce Randall at First Lutheran Church in Trimont while Charlie was serving in the Navy and they lived in San Francisco, Calif. He was honorably discharged on March 9, 1954. They moved back to Minnesota and lived in various places.

Charlie worked for Harold and Ann Ritter near Truman until moving to a farm in Fox Lake Township, rural Welcome, and farmed with his father-in-law, Vance Randall, and was employed at Skelly Co-op, and did custom spraying and fertilizer application. In 1985, they moved into Trimont and he continued farming with Larry.

Charlie was a member of First Lutheran Church in Trimont, Foster-Bernhardt American Legion Post 373 of Trimont and Trimont Area Conservation Club.

He greatly enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends, playing cards and playing Aggravation. Charlie enjoyed tinkering on things and was an engineer on many special projects he made.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Potts of Trimont, Minn.; his children, Larry (Sheri) Potts of rural Welcome, Minn., Duane (Kathy) Potts of rural Trimont, Randy (Kristin) Potts of Worthington, Minn., and Rhonda Potts of Trimont; 10 grandchildren, Anthony Potts, Heather (Christerpher) Reyes, Jeffrey Potts, Lindey (Demetruis) Boswell, Nikki Potts, Jamie (Ryan) Smith, Joshua Ellanson, Kiley Ellanson, Jesse Potts, Cody Potts; six great-grandchildren, Benjamin Potts, Tasha Boswell, Lynia Boswell, Eli Smith, Liam Smith and Charleston Reyes; brother, Frank (EmmaLou) Potts of Utica, S.D., James (Martha) Potts of Lake City, Iowa; sisters, Marion Mattsen of Welcome, Minn., Joyce (Don) Rethmeier of Newton, Iowa, Violet (Larry) Schleisman of Lake City, Iowa; sister-in-law, Linda Potts of Lake City, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Royal and Nellie “Crawford” Potts; grandparents, William and Lola (Thompson) Potts and Frank and Dora (Wyant) Crawford; brother, Ronald Potts; sister, Rosemary Marie Potts; brother-in-law, Curtis Mattsen; mother and father-in-law, Vance and Ruth Randall; sister-in-law, Dick and Norma Harness; and other relatives.
