Betty Jean Wallace

DELAVAN — Betty Jean Wallace, age 86, of Delavan, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2019, at United Hospital District in Blue Earth. A memorial service is pending at this time. Patton Funeral Home in Blue Earth is entrusted with arrangements. www.pattonfh.com

Betty was born April 6, 1933, in Waukee, Iowa, to Orval “Bus” and Lila (Crouse) Lux. The family later moved north to the Delavan area and Betty graduated in 1951 from Delavan High School. Betty was proud to have been crowned homecoming queen of her senior class. On March 9, 1951, Betty married her high school sweetheart, William Wallace. Together they raised two sons while farming and operating Bill’s TV and Appliance for 50 years in Delavan and later in Blue Earth. She was very active in the community serving on the United Hospital Board of Directors for 12 years, United Hospital Foundation Board for six years, and also served as president of the SW Division of MN Horticultural Society for eight years. Betty enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, being members of Minnesota Good Sam’s, gardening, wintering in Arizona and spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty is survived by her loving husband, Bill; sons, Steven (Mercedes) and Bradley (Debbie); grandchildren, Kay (Matt) Stern, Sheena (Jason) Possin, Thomas (Amanda) Wallace, Isaac (Tania) Wallace, Morgan (Brady) Johnson, and Gregory Wallace; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Shirley Millman, Richard (Jean) Lux, Janet (Roy) Olsen; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Billy Lux; brother-in-law, Pat Millman and granddaughter Tina Wallace.
