Roger V. Leach

ARMSTRONG — Roger V. Leach died Monday, June 24, 2019, at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong, Iowa, at the age of 94. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2019, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Armstrong, Iowa. He will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, rural Armstrong. Military rites will be by Weiby-Johnson VFW Post 5232 of Armstrong. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Armstrong.

Roger V. Leach was born May 6, 1925, in Sioux Falls, S.D., the son of William V. and Rosella (Steiner) Leach. He received his education in Armstrong schools. Roger served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II in the South Pacific. On Oct. 31, 1946, he was united in marriage to Betty Moore. The couple made their home in Armstrong. Roger worked for the Armstrong Telephone Company for many years until he retired. For hobbies, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Armstrong and the National Rifle Association. Left to cherish Roger’s memory are his wife, Betty of Armstrong; his children, William Leach, Don (Joyce) Leach, Gail (Lawrence) Heyn, Gary Leach, Larry (Sue) Leach; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
