As a young girl, the family moved to Madelia, Minn., where she attended school at Mater Dolorosa Parochial School and Madelia High School. She went on to attend St. Teresa’s College and graduated from Mankato State University in 1976 with her teaching degree.

On July 10, 1950, Pat was united in marriage to Robert Borowski at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church in Madelia, Minn. Together the couple would make their home in Fairmont and were blessed with one son, Greg.

Pat worked for many years as a teacher at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Sleepy Eye, Minn., and at St. John Vianney Catholic School in Fairmont. In her retirement, she served as a substitute teacher in many of the area’s schools.

In addition to inspiring the minds of many of the area’s youth, Pat also enjoyed her time volunteering and was honored as Volunteer of the Year in 2006 at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center.

Her faith was extremely important to her and she was a long-time member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church, active in St. Timothy’s Circle and served on the St. John Vianney Endowment Board.

Pat was a life member of the Fairmont Community Hospital Auxiliary.

In her spare time, Pat enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, sending cards to family and friends, playing cards, and looked forward to Sunday suppers with family.

Left to cherish her memory is her son, Greg Borowski and his wife, Barb, of Fairmont, Minn.; grandchildren, Lori Kurpiers and her husband, Josh, Jeff Borowski, Jeannie (Nathan Carritt) Borowski; great-grandchildren, Paul Kurpiers and Evan Kurpiers; two sisters-in-law, Jane Quinn and Kathy Dea; as well as many other extended family and friends.
