Roger Lee Olson

SAN DIEGO — Roger Lee Olson, 58, formerly of Fairmont, passed away April 28, 2019, in San Diego, Calif., as a result of a car accident.

Roger loved the outdoors, animals and especially dancing, which he did every Sunday night at his home away from home, Mo’s. We are certain he is in heaven still dancing. He enjoyed traveling to Hawaii each year for the holiday season. He loved being near the ocean and watching the sunsets.

We will miss his silly ways, contagious smile, kind spirit and his zest for life. If he taught us anything it would be to live life to the fullest and find the beauty in everything and everyone around us. He said that it’s not always about the fast-paced beat but sometimes the slower one in the background.

Roger was born Aug. 17, 1960, in Fairmont, Minn., to Robert D. Olson and Donna Olson (Allen). He attended Fairmont High School and graduated in 1978. After his graduation, he traveled and lived in many locations before settling in San Diego.

He is survived by his father, Robert D. Olson; siblings, Allen Olson, Lori Schwieger, Vicki Deubler (Scott), Gary Olson, Mary Olson, Nancy Campbell (Ross); stepsisters, Shari Thielges, Jodie Whitmore, Liz Duncan; aunt, Barb Hevner; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Joe Gergyl.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Wessel (Allen); grandparents; aunts, Karen Zaller, Dorothy Rasche, Betty Sukalski, and Donna West; brother-in-law, Keith; niece, Jodi; nephew, Matthew; and his beloved dalmatians, Reggie and Piper.

He is with the angels smiling down on all who crossed his path during his life.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Martin County Humane Society or Adventure Playground in Fairmont.
