LEDYARD — Irene Brandt, longtime resident of Ledyard, Iowa, passed away peacefully Monday, Oct. 15, 2018, at the glorious age of 96. A Celebration of Life will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, at Bethany United Church of Christ in Ledyard, Iowa.

Within the last few years, Irene moved to Fayetteville, Ark., to be closer to family.

Irene is survived by her son, Dale Brandt and his wife, Paula, of Dallas, Texas; and daughter, Deanna Brandt of Minneapolis, Minn. Irene is loved and adored by her seven grandchildren, Dawn Rippentrop (David Farrell), and Shane Rippentrop (Laura Rippentrop) of Denver, Colo., Stephanie Zishka (Steve Zishka) of Fort Wayne, Ind.; Sarah Teachout (Chad Teachout), Cody Brandt (Alesha Brandt) of Dallas, Texas, Sasha Hagle and Guhy Brandt of Springdale, Ark.; and nine great-grandchildren. They all have many tales to tell of Grandma’s significance in their growing-up years.

Along with seven siblings and her parents, Olaf and Anne Solberg of St James, Minn.; Irene’s husband, Orville; son, Delray; and daughter, Debra, preceded her in death.

Irene was a talented and remarkable woman leaving a lasting impression on her family and community. She is a legacy of a bygone era. We respectfully honor her.
