MESA, Ariz. — Marvin LaVerne Bosshart passed to his heavenly home Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018. A celebration of life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018, at Church of Christ in Truman.
The service will be a joint tribute to Marvin and Harold Bosshart: cousins, lifelong friends and business partners. Harold passed away Aug. 11, in Colorado.
Visitation will be 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Marvin was born Feb. 18, 1932, in Wisconsin. He was the first-born child of Max and Florence (Tainter) Bosshart. The family moved to Truman, Minn., when Marvin was a young boy.
After graduating from Truman High School, Marvin married the love of his life, Orletha Raddatz, on July 22, 1951. While attending high school, Marvin enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving as a Seabee.
He graduated from Dunwoody Institute and became a partner of Bosshart Construction Company with his father, Max, uncle, Paul, and cousin, Harold. They employed hundreds of local carpenters, masons and skilled construction workers to build many churches, schools, hospitals, nursing homes, apartments, and dormitories for nearly three decades.
In 1958, Marvin and Harold started Truman Contractor Supply, a ready-mix concrete business. The cousins added plants in St. James, Windom, Fairmont, Sherburn and Jackson. Marvin purchased Harold’s share in 1986. The Bosshart Company expanded with plants in Worthington, Mt. Lake and Armstrong, Iowa. Marvin was also co-owner of ready-mix plants in Spencer and Spirit Lake, Iowa.
Marvin and Orletha raised their four children in Truman, modeling faith, integrity, work ethic and community service through the Community Baptist Church, Boy Scouts, school board, Truman Development Club, fire department, American Legion, state and national aggregate & ready mix boards.
He was a member of Chain Lake 64 Masonic Lodge and Shriner-active in the Cushman Scooter Patrol at parades.
Marvin and Orletha cherished time with family, fishing, camping with family and friends, traveling and collecting Ford Mustangs and Thunderbirds. They became “snowbirds” to Mesa and Gold Canyon, Ariz., since the mid ’80s.
