Wilfred ‘Bill’ Hinrichs

BURNSVILLE — Wilfred “Bill” Hinrichs passed away Thursday, Aug. 23, 2018, at his home in Burnsville. Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at The Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7110 France Ave. South, in Edina, Minn.

Bill was born Nov. 8, 1929, in May City, Iowa, to Carl and Martha (Burke) Hinrichs. At the age of 2, he moved with his family to Mallard, Iowa, where he graduated from high school in 1947. Bill was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1951 and served 15 months in Germany during his two years of service.

Bill was united in marriage to Margaret Stafford on May 1, 1954. In 1957, Bill and Margaret moved to Fairmont, Minn., where they raised their five children. He was employed for 35 years at 3M, retiring in 1992.

Bill enjoyed participating in sports in high school and spent a number of years officiating at the high school and amateur levels. In his later years, he volunteered at his church and other organizations. His service at the Fairmont Medical Center was especially rewarding to him.

Those who will find comfort in the many memories are his loving wife of 64 years, Margaret Hinrichs; children, Gayle (Jerry) Hinrichs, Tom (Barb) Hinrichs, Marty Hinrichs, Stephanie (Brenda) Hinrichs, Jackie (Myron) Lueth; grandchildren, Simon (Erica) Lueth, Emily (Andrew) Lueth, Sarah (Landon) Johnson, Joe Hinrichs; great-grandchildren, Oliver Lueth and Harlie Johnson; brother and sisters-in-law, Rev. Paul (Fran) Hinrichs, Arlene Hinrichs, Dorothy (Kenneth) Lyon; many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; siblings and in-laws, Amanda Anderson, Arnolda (Andrew) Truelson, Esther (Kerber) Orsborn, Carl Hinrichs, Rev. Marvin (Dorothy) Hinrichs, Martha (Robert) Heinze; infant sister, Charlotte.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Lutheran Hour Ministries.
