FAIRMONT — Mass of Christian Burial for Michael J. Gardner, 74, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 27, 2017, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont, with inurnment at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.

Michael passed away Friday morning, Oct. 20, 2017, at Catholic Eldercare in Minneapolis, Minn.

Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Michael James Gardner was born Sept. 10, 1943, in Austin, Minn., the son of James and Arriette (Pribble) Gardner. Mike graduated from Fairmont High School in 1961. He furthered his education at St. Thomas and later graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1966.

On Feb. 15, 1969, Mike was united in marriage to Judee Churchill at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. The couple made their permanent move to Fairmont in 1970. Mike owned and operated the Fairmont Clinic Pharmacy until his retirement in 2008.

Mike was a past member of the St. John Vianney School Board, as well as the Interlaken Heritage Days Committee, where he was active with helping put on the yearly July 4th fireworks for many years.

He was an avid reader and loved spending his time hunting and boating. Mike was also a Minnesota Twins fan and huge Vikings fan.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, James Gardner of Alpha, Minn., and Jaycee Gardner of St. Paul, Minn.; grandson, Bryant Taplin; brother, Thomas Gardner of St. Louis, Mo.; sister, Jayne Gardner of Minneapolis, Minn.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Along with his parents, James and Arriette Gardner, Mike was preceded in death by his wife, Judee; and sister, Marguerite P. Gardner.
