While in Rake, Josephine was very active at Zion Lutheran Church, where she had been a member since 1942. She also served for many years as a member of E.L.C.W and was also a member of church circle.

In her spare time, Josephine enjoyed working on needlework and was an outstanding cook. She cherished spending time with family and friends and will be greatly missed by all those that loved her and called her a friend.
