Freda I. Gaard
TRIMONT – Funeral services for Freda I. Gaard, 84, of Trimont, Minn., will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2016, at Evangelical Covenant Church in Trimont, with Rev. Micky Hardy officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Lutheran Cemetery, rural Trimont, Minn.
Freda was called to her eternal rest on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 8, 2016, surrounded by her family at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont, Minn. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

Freda Irene Mossholder was born Nov. 9, 1931, in Jersey, Ohio, to Herman and Mary (Fletcher) Mossholder. She attended Madison School in Johnstown and later was a graduate of Hebron High School in Hebron, Ohio. She made her home in Claylick, Johnstown, Columbus, Hanover, Newark and Buckeye Lake, Ohio.
She was united in marriage to Sanford Gaard on Oct. 10, 1952, in Newark, Ohio. After their marriage, they lived in Newark until moving to a farm in the Canby, Minn., area. They later moved to Odin, Minn., and then to a farm near Trimont, Minn. Freda was employed at Glasstite in Dunnell and later the Trimont Nursing Home. Sanford died on Jan. 2, 2003. Freda continued living on the farm until moving into Trimont.
Freda was a member of the Trimont women’s auxiliary. She enjoyed mothering her seven grown children, reading the Bible and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Working with her flowers and being in her vegetable garden, building puzzles and watching movies were very special to her.
She is survived by her seven children, Chris Gaard (Lynda Hatmann) of Hazel, S.D., Robert Gaard (Brenda Hahn) of Gaylord, Minn., Sanford Gaard (GeeGee Palmer) of Blaine, Minn., Mary (Doug) Huber of rural Trimont, Minn., Donna (Jon) Holtz of Trimont, Minn., Barbara McDonald (Jerome Lager) of Fairmont, Minn., and Ann (Jason) Olson of Osakis, Minn.; nine grandchildren, Brian, Heather and Amber Holtz, Patrick and Briana McDonald, Wyatt and Kirsten Olson and Andrew Gaard, Elizabeth McColley; three great-grandchildren, Logan Holtz, Tobias Rave Jr. and Emma Rave; sister, Donna (Billy) Stratford of Mount Vernon, Ohio; brother, Edward Bedette of New York, N.Y.; and other relatives and friends.
Freda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sanford Gaard Sr.; sons, Sanford Gaard Jr., Edward Gaard; two babies; brother, Howard Mossholder; sister, Jeane Wheeler; her grandparents; and other relatives.
