June E. Silverthorn
FAIRMONT – A funeral service for June E. Silverthorn, 86, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at the Lakeview Funeral Home Chapel in Fairmont. Burial will follow the service in Fairview Memorial Park, Fairmont.
June passed away Monday morning, July 18, 2016, at her home in Fairmont. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, July 22, at Lakeview Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
June Ellen (Hill) Silverthorn was born Sept. 2, 1929, in Soudan, Minn., the daughter of John and Elsie (Williams) Hill. She graduated from Tower-Soudan High School in 1947.
She was united in marriage to Earl E. Silverthorn on Jan. 7, 1950, in Fairmont, where they raised their family. June worked at Mocal’s Grocery and Izen’s Grocery Store in Fairmont. She then worked at Madsen’s Grocery in the bakery department then Hy-Vee bakery.
June was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont, Lee C. Prentice American Legion Auxiliary and the Al-Anon Group.
June loved to play cards and work on word search puzzles.
In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Silverthorn on March 22, 1986; two sons, Jim and Malcolm Silverthorn; one daughter, Barbara Jean Golliker; two great-granddaughters; four brothers, Bill and Don Hill, Wes and Rodney Anderson.
June is survived by three sons, David Silverthorn of Fairmont, Gary Silverthorn of Fairmont, Mark Silverthorn (Lynn) of McAlester, Okla.; one daughter, Kathy Silverthorn (Tom Totzke) of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; daughter-in-law, Virginia Silverthorn of Rialto, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brothers, Halvor “Bud” Hill of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., George Anderson of California, Dick Anderson of Georgia; two sisters, Dianne Mega of Duluth, Minn., Sally Niemi of St. Joseph, Minn.; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
