Webb Robert Brodt
MARSHALL – Webb Robert Brodt, 64, died Monday, June 27, 2016, at Prairie View Senior Living Center in Tracy, Minn. No formal services are planned.
He was born Dec. 21, 1951, in Fairmont, Minn., to Robert H. Brodt and Margaret (Webb) Brodt. He attended public schools in Fairmont graduating from Fairmont High School in 1970. He earned an economics/business degree from Mankato State College.
Webb worked for Centel Telephone, Best Buy, Hodgman Construction Co., and at Robbie’s Restaurant in Decatur, Ill., before returning to Fairmont several years ago.
He lived in Marshall, Minn. from 2010 to the present.
He is survived by his sister, Kathy (Dan) Anderson of Clinton, Iowa; niece, Sarah (Benton) Smith of Denver, Colo.; nephew, Mark Anderson of DeWitt, Iowa; and grand nephew and niece, Carson and Mona Smith.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Elise and Henry Brodt; his maternal grandparents, Valeria “Vedie” and Dr. Lester Webb; his father, Robert in 1997; and his mother, Marnie in 2010.
Webb shared the family love of Scottish terriers, owning and rescuing several during his adult life. He loved to explore words and their origins and was an adept crossword puzzler, Scrabble and cribbage player. Webb was a licensed pilot for flying small planes and travelled widely by motorcycle, ship and plane; he confessed to being an Anglophile and visited England twice.
