Marvin J. Madsen

FAIRMONT – Mass of Christian Burial for Marvin J. Madsen, 75, of Fairmont, Minn., will be held 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2016, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Fairmont, with military honors provided by the Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and Martin County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1222.

Marvin passed away on Thursday morning, May 5, 2016, at Hillcrest Healthcare Center in Mankato, Minn. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, with a prayer service set for 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church. Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Marvin John Madsen was born March 26, 1941, in Nashville Township, Minn., the son of Stanley and Dena (Kaduce) Madsen. Marvin graduated from Granada High School. After high school, Marvin served in the U.S. Army for two years. On Nov. 7, 1965, Marvin was united in marriage to Joyce Paul in Easton, Minn. This union was blessed with three sons, Heath, Brian, and Luke. On Aug. 8, 1997, Marvin was united in marriage to Sharon Mather in Fairmont, Minn. Marvin and Sharon shared 18 years together and resided in Truman where Marvin farmed for over 40 years. After retiring from farming, Marvin worked with his brother, John at Buy-Rite Motors in Fairmont. Marvin was a member of the Farm Bureau where he was a board member. He enjoyed fishing and traveling with his family. Marvin’s great love was his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Sharon Madsen of Fairmont, Minn.; sons, Brian Madsen of Rochester, Minn., and Luke (Sarah) Madsen of Mankato, Minn.; stepsons, Chad (Sandy) Mather of Hooper, Utah, Todd (Kara) Mather of St. Cloud, Minn., Cory (Cindy) Mather of Woodbury, Minn., and Alex (Dawn) Mather of Huxley, Iowa; stepdaughter, Amy (Carey) Kemna of Algona, Iowa; three grandchildren; 16 step-grandchildren; brothers, John (Glenda) Madsen of Fairmont, Minn., and Jerry (Robin) Madsen of Duluth, Minn.; sisters, Mary Ann (Marly) Hagen of Fairmont, Minn., Marlene (Gerald) Moeller of Welcome, Minn., and Marvel Snyder (fiance, Robert Moelber) of Fairmont, Minn.; brothers-in-law, David (Trish) Bezdicek of Pullman, Wash., Greg (Elaine) Bezdicek of Sequim, Wash., Jim (Diane) Bezdicek of Jackson, Minn., and Matthew (Penny) Bezdicek of Windom, Minn.; sisters-in-law, Eileen (Brad) Hady of Fairmont, Minn., and June (Russ) Sorensen of Fairmont, Minn.; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Along with his parents, Stanley and Dena Madsen, Marvin was preceded in death by his son, Heath.
