Donna A. (Mikkalson) Conrad

FAIRMONT -Services for Donna A. (Mikkalson) Conrad, 88, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 1 p.m. Monday, May 2, 2016, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Burial will follow the service in the East Chain Evangelical Free Church Cemetery, rural East Chain. Donna passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 26, 2016, at the Lakeview Methodist Healthcare Center in Fairmont. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2016, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Visitation will also be noon to 1 p.m. Monday, at the Lakeview Funeral Home, with a luncheon served during this time. Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Donna Avis (Mikkalson) Conrad was born Oct. 3, 1927, near East Chain, in Silver Lake Township, Minn., the daughter of Albert and Esther (Ackerson) Hallstrom. She attended country school in Silver Lake Township and attended high school in Fairmont, graduating from Fairmont High School. Following her graduation, Donna attended the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis. On Aug. 2, 1947, Donna was united in marriage to Raymond Mikkalson at the East Chain Evangelical Free Church in East Chain, Minn. Together, the couple made their home in Fairmont where they both worked for the Fairmont Telephone Company until they moved to Amboy in 1955. In 1974, Raymond passed away. Donna was blessed to find love again when she met and married Alvin Conrad on Aug. 16, 1975, in Amboy, Minn. Donna worked for many years at the Amboy Medical Clinic, retiring in 1994. In her retirement, Donna also served as the Amboy City Librarian for a number of years. She was a member and past elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Amboy, a member of the Amboy American Legion Auxiliary and also a member of the Parker-Oaks Auxiliary in Winnebago. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Bradley Mikkalson and his wife, Mary, of Rochester, Minn.; grandchildren, Kris Mikkalson of Rochester, Minn., and Jennifer Wilcox and her husband, Cole, of Stewartville, Minn.; three great-grandchildren, James, Xavier, and Keagan; one sister, Nancy Madson and her husband, Harvey, of East Chain, Minn.; several stepchildren; stepgrandchildren; stepgreat-grandchildren; niece, Heidi Pasion and her husband, Chris; as well as many other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Esther Hallstrom; husbands, Raymond Mikkalson and Alvin Conrad; two sisters, Elaine Rudolph and JoAnne Hockert; brother, John Hallstrom; two brothers-in-law, Clem Rudolph and Lester Hockert; and a sister-in-law, Jeanne Hallstrom.
