Dale W. DeWitz

SHOREVIEW – Dale Winton DeWitz, age 77, of Shoreview, formerly of Amboy, passed away Friday, April 15, 2016, at Regions Hospital in St Paul. Dale has donated his body to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amboy. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at a later date.

Dale was born May 11, 1938, in Mankato, Minn., to Otto and Mary (Olson) DeWitz. He graduated from Amboy High School in 1957.

He followed in the footsteps of his father and took up farming in Sterling Township. He married Lucille Stoeck on Nov. 18, 1967. They lived on the farm outside Amboy until moving to Shoreview in 2014.

Dale was baptized and confirmed at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Amboy, and remained a faithful member there until he and Lucy moved in 2014.

He enjoyed bowling and was on many leagues over the years, including a Farm Bureau team that went to the state tournament. He also enjoyed woodworking, watching sports, mowing the yard and doing search-a-word puzzles. He traveled a lot with his parents growing up, and later in life traveled with Lucy to Massachusetts, Vermont and Missouri, visiting their daughter, Sarah.

Dale is survived by his wife Lucille (Lucy); daughter, Sarah and her husband, Matt Anderson; granddaughters, Katherine and Julia; aunt Anita Bonnett; sister-in-law, Sharon Stoeck; nieces, Lisa Eckberg and Terri Geffert; and many cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Mary; and brother-in-law, Charles Stoeck.
