Curtis G. Chaffee
GRANADA – Funeral Service for Curtis G. Chaffee, 64, of Granada, Minn., will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, at Calvary Baptist Church in Granada, with Pastor Chad Prigge officiating. Interment will follow in Center Creek Cemetery in rural Granada with military honors provided by The Lee C. Prentice American Legion Post 36 and Martin County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1222.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Curtis passed away Thursday morning, Aug. 27, 2015, at his home in rural Granada.
Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairmont is in charge of arrangements.
Curtis Gene Chaffee was born Dec. 28, 1950, in Fairmont, Minn. He was the son of A.D. “Jim” and Marcella “Mugs” (O’Connor) Chaffee. Curt attended and graduated from Granada High School.
Curt enlisted in the Marine Corps on Sept. 26, 1968. He served in Viet Nam before earning an honorable discharge on Aug. 30, 1971. Curt’s love for his country continued later in his life when he became a life member of the Granada American Legion Post 319 and the Martin County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1222. He was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Granada.
On Oct. 25, 1991, Curt was united in marriage to Patricia (McShane) Prigge in Welcome, Minn. They lived on the family farm where Curt farmed and raised livestock. He loved spending time with family, friends, and his prized goats. Curt was hard-working and had a great sense of humor. He will be missed by many.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Patricia Chaffee of Granada, Minn.; sister, Dee Hannaman of Granada, Minn.; step-children, Chad (Sara) Prigge of Watertown, Wis., Ryan (Erin) Prigge of Rochester, Minn., and Shanna (Phil) Gons of Bellingham, Wash.; 11 grandchildren, Caleb, Rachel, Seth, Megan, Samantha, and Miles Prigge, Olivia and Mia Prigge, and Elleana, Carsten and Avaelle Gons; nephews, James Chaffee of Eagan, Minn., Neil (Becky) Chaffee of Fairmont, Minn., and Chad (Dawn) Chaffee of St. Charles, Minn.; aunt, Betty Mobry of Fairmont, Minn.; brothers-in-law, Jim McShane of Fairmont, Minn., and John McShane of Lakeville, Minn.; sister-in-law, Cathy McEwen of Fairmont, Minn.; and other extended family and friends.
Along with his parents, Jim and Mugs Chaffee, Curt was preceded in death by his parents-in-law, Jerry and Joyce McShane; brother, Bill Chaffee; and sister-in-law, Gerianne McShane.
