Joyce L. McShane
FAIRMONT – Celebration of Life services for Joyce L. McShane, age 88, of Fairmont, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at Fairmont Baptist Church in Fairmont.
Joyce died Saturday, June 20, 2015, at Lakeview Methodist Health Care Center in Fairmont. Visitation will be 4-6:30 p.m. today, June 23, 2015, at Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
Lakeview Funeral Home of Fairmont is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Joyce Lorraine was born Aug. 21, 1926, in St. Paul, Minn., to Dean and Rose (Rubis) McGowan. Growing up, she attended school in Forest Lake and was a member of the 1944 graduating class from Forest Lake High School. On July 1, 1948, Joyce was united in marriage to Gerard McShane in Minneapolis, Minn. This union was blessed with five children: Patricia, James, Gerianne, John and Catherine. Joyce worked as a secretary at the Social Security office in Fairmont for 26 years. She was a faithful member of the Fairmont Baptist Church. Joyce loved gardening and spending time with her family. Even though her life wasn’t always easy, she always had a smile on her face. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Patricia (Curtis) Chafee, James McShane, John McShane, and Catherine McEwen; grandchildren: Chad (Sara) Prigge, Ryan (Erin) Prigge, Shanna (Phil) Gons, Stephanie McShane, Jack (Elly) McGowan, and Janet (David) Wiley; great-grandchildren: Caleb, Rachel, Seth, Megan, Samantha and Miles Prigge, Olivia and Mia Prigge, Elleana, Carsten, and Avaelle Gons; many nieces, nephews, other extended family and many friends.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry McShane; daughter, Gerianne McShane; mother, Rose Pederson; father, Dean McGowan; step-father, Idor Pederson; brother, Dean McGowan; sister, Maxine Carver; and son-in-law, Jeff McEwen.
