Kyle L. Ekstrom
TRUMAN – Funeral services for Kyle L. Ekstrom, 33, of Truman, Minn., will be held 10 a.m. Friday, May 1, 2015, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Truman. Interment will be held in the church cemetery.
Kyle died on Sunday, April 26, 2015, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn., after a four and a half year battle with a brain tumor. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2015, at Zaharia Family Funeral and Cremation Service of Truman, and one hour prior to services Friday at the church.
Kyle Lynn Ekstrom was born April 23, 1982, in Fairmont, Minn., to Keith and Cindy (Anderson) Ekstrom. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Truman. Kyle attended St. Paul’s Parochial School in Truman, Martin Luther High School, and graduated from Fairmont High School in 2001. Kyle enjoyed meeting people as he moved around. He found his passion, working at Mel Carlson Chevrolet detailing cars from 2006-2009. In 2010, he was diagnosed with his brain tumor. Kyle enjoyed camping, disc golfing, bowling, fishing, being at the lake, fireworks, photography and especially traveling. He loved spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Truman and participated with a cancer support group at Fairmont Hospital.
Kyle is survived by his parents, Keith “Cactus” and Cindy Ekstrom of Truman, Minn.; three brothers, Brady (Ashley) of Fairmont, Minn., Levi of Fairmont, Minn., and Cade of Truman, Minn.; maternal grandparents, Howard and Marlene Anderson of Truman, Minn.; paternal grandmother, Grace Ekstrom of Truman, Minn.; one nephew, Kaylor Ekstrom; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Kyle was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Adean “Digger” Ekstrom; and one aunt, Penny.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to a charity of the donor’s choice.
