Robert ‘Bob’ A. Moore

FAIRMONT – A Celebration of Life, singing the old songs, lunch and fellowship for Robert “Bob” A. Moore, 94, of Fairmont, Minn., will be 11a.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014, at United Methodist Church in Fairmont. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Park, Fairmont.

Robert passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at his home in Fairmont. Visitation will be 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday, June 7, at United Methodist Church in Fairmont.

Lakeview Funeral Home and Cremation Service of Fairmont is in charge of the arrangements.

Robert “Bob” Allen Moore was born Jan. 4, 1920, in Le Mars, Iowa, the son of Allen and Beryl (Froelich) Moore. He graduated from the Fairmont High School in 1937 and then went on to the Dunwoody Institute for Science and Technology and graduated in 1940 in machine design and mechanical drafting. Robert was united in marriage to Ardis Nordberg in Annandale, Minn., on April 5, 1942. That same month, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force and served in the bombing training command and an auto pilot technician and served stateside. Bob was honorably discharged in December 1945 and returned to Fairmont. He worked at Fairmont Railway Motors as a tool designer, welding foreman and lastly, plant engineer before retiring in 1985. Ardis passed away in 2004. Bob was a member of United Methodist Church where he held various positions. He was a member of the Martin County Conservation Club. Bob volunteered for 25 years with the Boy Scouts and was the Scout Master of Troop 57 for three years. He enjoyed camping, Boundary Water trips, woodworking and refinishing furniture. Bob also enjoyed boat building and built seven boats over his lifetime.

Those who will cherish his memory include one son, Bruce Moore and his wife, Sue of Fairmont; two daughters, Bonnie Epple of Prior Lake, Susan Scheppmann of Fairmont; 12 grandchildren, Heather Olawsky (Darin), Michael Moore, Brian Hamsmith (Rita), Rhonda McCulley (Chris), Michelle Duncan (Wayne), Derrick Epple (Jill), Rob Epple, Dustin Scheppmann (Jenny), Troy Scheppmann (Elizabeth), Daren Scheppmann (Shaina), Sara Lidke (Kenny), Dana Wieme (Alex); 11 great-grandchildren; foreign exchange student and family friend, Kenzo Oshima of Tokyo, Japan; four brothers, John “Bill” Moore (Betty) of Pocatello, Idaho, Dick Moore of Rochester, Minn., Joel Moore (Kay) of Hudson, Wis., David Moore (Carol) of Beaverton, Ore.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Allen and Beryl Moore, and wife, Ardis Moore, Bob was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Kathleen Moore; brothers, Tom and Pat Moore; and sister, Shirley Ryan.

Memorials are preferred to the Cedar Point Boy Scout Camp, Martin County Conservation Club, United Methodist Church or the United Hospice Program.
