Local music production was excellent To the Editor: We attended the recent Fairmont Opera House production of ‘Sound of Music’ twice. Going the second time meant that we might have missed something the first time as there was so much to see and hear. It was such a privilege to be able to attend such a production so close to home. There was a sense of excellence in every part of the production. The excellence ranged from the settings to an orchestra that seemed so prepared. New family takes over Bean Town Congratulations to both Steve and Tina Jette and the Parra family on the transfer of ownership of Bean Town restaurant in Fairmont. Thanks to Steve and Tina for bringing the restaurant here more than a decade ago and for searching for the right family to take it over. Minnesota goes too far with legislation To the Editor: Our Minnesota State legislative session has ended and Governor Walz has called it the most productive session since the Minnesota Miracle. My view. I respectfully disagree and I will address only three issues from the last session at this time. Weeds overtake chain of lakes Curly-leaf Pondweed is very visibly present in all of Fairmont’s five lakes. Time is of the essence to eliminate this invasive weed. Lakeshore owners please remove the roots completely and let the weed dry out and die before disposing of it. All community members can also help eliminate this weed and others by taking care of their grass clippings and leaves and keeping the drains that lead to the lakes clear.
