Vote No to the Martin County West (MCW) School Referendum by Nov. 7th To the Editor In 1988 the towns of Trimont, Sherburn, Welcome and Dunnell consolidated together to form Martin County West. For 25 years we have been showing others how to join together for success. One of our primary concerns with the current MCW Referendum is our own town of Trimont. Live Fit expands with offerings Live Fit in Fairmont recently absorbed Fairmont CrossFit, broadening the number of fitness opportunities for the community. PIE thankful for community support To the Editor: On Sept. 29, Fairmont Partners in Education held their annual Homecoming Tailgate at Mahoney Field. We would like to thank all those who came out in support of Partners in Education and the Cardinal football team. What has become of Fairmont? I have to say that I am so disappointed at what Fairmont has become. There are literally no specialists at Mayo anymore--no opthalmologists, no dermatologists, no urologists, no urgent care anymore, now threats of $50 to have a "complex" verbal conversation? What does that mean? I don't understand what the heck is going on here. I know many say all is well. There is no place to shop other than other private stores geared toward young adults, teenagers or other adults still in the workplace. Retired folks need to go to Walmart or drive to Mankato. Non-profit gifts quilts to veterans Fairmont resident, Linda Maday, has created a new non-profit, South Central Minnesota Quilts for Veterans, which will give a quilt to each one of Martin County’s 1,200 veterans. What a great goal and a great way to honor our veterans. Thank you to Linda and all involved in this project. Thoughts on the community center To the Editor: Since my graduation from Fairmont High school I have been receiving the Sentinel newspaper following the happenings in Fairmont. My mother still lives there as do several of my siblings. I have been following with great interest the bantering back and forth regarding the Community Center being proposed for Fairmont. I have to agree with the gentleman, who in a letter to the editor, wrote about what he thought was more important for the Fairmont area.
