Support Knights of Columbus auction event To the Editor: It’s almost here...the annual Knights of Columbus Silent/Live Auction. This year it will be held Saturday, April 6, in the gym at St. John Vianney School, starting at 6 p.m. There will be a variety of items to bid on based on your preference and proceeds will benefit CREST as well as Arc/Martin County People First. The Knights work very hard to put on this event with a lot of manpower going into the fundraiser. Won’t you come out and join us for a night of fun? Fairmont Track Association grateful for support To the Editor: \On behalf of the Fairmont Track Association, we are beyond grateful for the amazing grant dollars we received from the Schmeeckle Foundation and the Martin County Youth Foundation to close some significant deficits we had in our pole vault program. The annual meeting on Township Day is what really sets townships apart from other forms of local government. Educational decisions impacting taxes To the Editor: My kids and grandkids are in school districts far away, so I’m not afraid to speak at a board meeting or offer my opinions. Retaliation is possible, it happened, and I know that it continues. This is one of the reasons why more people don’t attend school board meetings or voice their opinions. I have been asked, “Why are you wasting your time talking to the school board? An Amazing Blessing To the Editor: I recently received a huge blessing. Women of Worth, The Shepherd's In and St. John Vianney, gave me a helping hand when I needed it most. These three programs helped me get out of a relationship filled with verbal, physical and emotional abuse. They helped me get out and into a safe place of my own. Thank you all for the amazing blessing. I know that these programs are able to help myself and so many others because of all the contributions from the caring people in the Fairmont community. We can’t afford to wait To the Editor: Last November, Martin County West School District voters went to the polls regarding a referendum with two questions: the first to approve $63 million for a new pre-K through 12 facility in Sherburn, and the second, contingent on the first passing, to approve a $9 million gym space (to replace what was lost with the closure of the Welcome building) and an auditorium.
