Association grateful for support To the Editor: On behalf of the Martin County Preservation Association, managing the Chubb House and Red Rock Center for the Arts, we sincerely thank those who contributed to a successful 4th quarter. A duty to help poor and hungry To the Editor: We all know about our duty to help the poor and hungry. That duty is repeatedly articulated in Scripture. Christ stressed that duty as one of the foundations of his Gospel message of love. But the difficult part of that duty is knowing how to fulfill it. We all want to help; we just don't know how to go about doing it. Support ‘Kids Against Hunger’ To the Editor: February 8, 2025, is fast approaching and that is the date the “Kids Against Hunger” will be packing food. This will take place at the Fairmont Armory from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. So, grab your neighbors, friends, and family to make a team of 10 people to help pack the food for this worthy cause. Consider getting involved in Kids Against Hunger To the Editor: Thanksgiving for many is a season of plenty. Remember your parents saying “clean your plate, kids are starving somewhere?” Truth is, locally as well as globally, hunger is real and persistent, and often we feel just cleaning our plate won’t help. Concerns not accurately addressed To the editor: I was able to attend the public health meeting Monday night about the changes at Mayo Health Systems/Fairmont. I had the opportunity to raise a concern about the increased risks that surround the delivery of babies when the mother must travel to deliver her baby. The obvious example is the closure of local services, forcing moms to drive to Mankato to deliver their baby. I was able to share a research reference with the panel that proved this increased risk, but one of the doctors on the panel discounted this thought by saying the ...
