Authorities: 1 dead in plane crash in

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Authorities say a small plane crashed in central Minnesota, killing one person.

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office said the plane went down Saturday morning in the Crow-Hassan Park Reserve, about 30 miles northwest of Minneapolis.

Hennepin County Sheriff Dave Hutchinson said in a statement one occupant was found dead at the scene.

Sheriff’s office spokesman Rob Allen said he could not confirm if anyone else was on board.

The National Transportation Safety Board tweeted it was investigating the crash. The agency said the plane was a single-engine Beech A36.

The agency did not release more information.

National team activated to join bar fire probe

ST. CLOUD AP) — The National Response Team of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has been activated to join the investigation into the cause of a fire that destroyed a historic bar in downtown St. Cloud.

The team arrived Friday at the scene of the Press Bar fire to join local and state investigators.

The fire broke out Monday morning, but by afternoon the two-story building had been leveled, resulting in over $1 million in damage.

The St. Cloud Fire Department and the ATF’s St. Paul Division asked for help from the National Response Team, because of the size of the building and the amount of damage.

The ATF developed the National Response Team to bring its expertise to federal, state and local investigators faced with the challenges of significant explosions and arson fires.

The building was more than 100 years old. The Press Bar dated back to 1942.

Pence sets Minnesota, Wisconsin stops

ST. PAUL (AP) — Vice President Mike Pence will campaign for President Donald Trump next month in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

The Trump campaign announced Friday that Pence and his wife Karen will appear March 5 in Onalaska, Wisconsin, near LaCrosse. The couple will visit St. Paul the same day.

The visit will come just two days after Minnesota holds its presidential primary as part of Super Tuesday.

Wisconsin is seen as a critical battleground in the general election. Trump’s victory there in 2016 was key to his winning a first term. He narrowly lost Minnesota and has vowed to win the state this cycle.
