Minneapolis police: 2 boys killed

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Authorities say two boys were shot to death outside a house in Minneapolis, and police surrounded the residence and seeking to negotiate with the suspect.

The Star Tribune reports shots were heard shortly after 10 a.m. Sunday.

Police told an emergency dispatcher two victims were dead in the home’s front yard. A third victim was in a doorway in a spot that police have yet to approach.

Several officers were dispatched to the scene and established a perimeter around the house were the suspect lives.

Police spokesman John Elder said it “appears to be a hostage situation.”

Elder says SWAT personnel and negotiators were attempting to resolve the situation with an arrest and no further violence.

Hootie & the Blowfish event held by Kyle Rudolph

CINCINNATI (AP) — The lead vocalist of Hootie & the Blowfish is set to perform at an Ohio high school in 2020.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports Darius Rucker is scheduled to perform at a charity concert at Elder High School in Cincinnati on May 7.

The event to be hosted by Elder graduate and Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph at the school’s football stadium will also feature the Bronson Arroyo Band. Event organizers say proceeds will go to a school fund to help complete a fitness center and provide scholarships to students in need.
