Klobuchar sees hope in results

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar says Tuesday’s election results across the country give her confidence as she officially signs up for New Hampshire’s 2020 presidential primary.

Klobuchar told supporters Wednesday that “democracy is really hitting back in a good way” and sending the message that “the president is not the king.”

She mentioned mayoral races won by Democrats in New Hampshire, and elections in Virginia, where Republicans lost control of both houses of the Legislature.

Klobuchar got a quick history lesson as she put her name on New Hampshire’s Democratic primary ballot: her home state of Minnesota had its primary the same day as New Hampshire’s in 1916, but New Hampshire has gone first every cycle since.

Family asks for help to find killer

LITTLE FALLS (AP) — The family of a hunter who was fatally shot in Morrison County three years ago and sheriff’s officials have created a video asking for help in solving the homicide.

Terry Brisk was killed Nov. 7, 2016, while deer hunting on his parents’ land east of Little Falls. Investigators say Brisk’s own weapon was used to kill him. The gun was recovered later on the property.

In the video, Terry’s wife, Pamela Brisk, emotionally asks for information on what happened to her husband and why.

Sheriff Shawn Larsen says his investigators believe Terry and his killer were in close proximity and that there was some sort of interaction between the two. Larsen says his department will never give up on solving the case.

Officials: Gunman killed himself

COTTAGE GROVE (AP) — Authorities say a gunman who carjacked several vehicles, sexually assaulted a woman and briefly held a family of four hostage in their suburban St. Paul home died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, not by police gunfire.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said Tuesday night that a medical examiner determined 34-year-old Noah Ante Erickson killed himself during an exchange of gunfire with police in Cottage Grove on Monday. Authorities earlier said the man was killed by police.

Authorities say Erickson kidnapped a woman at gunpoint, forced her to drive to her St. Paul home where he sexually assaulted her roommate, stole a vehicle and drove to Cottage Grove where he stole another vehicle. He then kicked in the door of a residence, briefly held a family hostage before stealing their vehicle, crashing it and exchanging gunfire with police.
